If you are trying to post a matter and the error below occurs, you might have a previous bill for the matter that is inactive.
To find this, go to Billing > Bill List and click on "Advanced Search". Under the conditions section, select "Matter", choose "equals", and search for your matter next to the magnifying glass.
Under the "Include records where Active Status is:" select "Both". Then click search.
It should come up with all the bills for that matter. An inactive bill may show up causing this error to occur. If it's dated prior to the bill you are trying to post and is shown as not posted, that bill is the issue.
At that point, we will need to check the box next to the bill, click on the "Actions" button and select "Set Active" like shown in the screenshot below. Then we can remove or post the bill.
Once we do that, we should be able to continue with the original bill.
