Centerbase has three types of hours that you can track. Worked Hours, Billable Hours, and Credit Hours.
- Worked/Actual Hours: The true amount of time that a person worked.
- Billable Hours: The amount of time that will be billed to the client and appear on their bill.
- Credit Hours: Time that the firm wants to give credit for.
Setting up Credit hours
In order to use credit hours you need to first turn them on in System Settings > Billing > General. By default, credit hours will equal Actual/Worked Hours unless credit hours are manually changed.
This will enable the management and viewing of Credit Hours system-wide, but users will still require specific permission to manage them.
To give a specific user permission to manage Credit Hours, enable the “Can Manage Credit Hours” permission located in the System Settings in User Information -> User List -> [User] -> Permissions under “Can Manage Billing”
As a general rule, viewing Credit Hours in places where it can be edited will require both the System Setting and the Permission to be enabled for the user. Viewing Credit Hours on Reports will only require the System Setting to be enabled.
Editing Credit Hours
When viewing the Billing Entry Time/Expense Dialog as a user with the appropriate permissions, Credit Hours will be displayed as an editable field on the dialog. Note that if Credit Hours is currently equal to Worked Hours, then changing Worked Hours will also change Credit Hours, but will not do so otherwise.
You can also edit the credit hours on the Time Entry Approval page, and credit hours can be added to the Billing Entries Grid Settings so that credit hours will appear while editing bills. You can contact support for help adding this column.
Reports
If Credit Hours are enabled in the System Settings, then they will also appear on two System Reports: the Timekeeper Analysis Report, and the Time Entries Report.
Navigation Paths:
Turn Credit Hours ON/Off: System Setting > Billing > General
Permission to Manage Credit Hours: System Setting > User Information > User List > [Select a User] > Permissions Tab
