Centerbase allows for Single Sign-On (SSO) through Microsoft Entra (formerly Microsoft Azure AD). Centerbase users must now login either:
-
Through Microsoft Entra, or
-
Using the email attached to their Centerbase account and their existing Centerbase password.
-
Each user on a site must have a unique email, and that email should match the user’s email that is used for access to Microsoft 365.
All firms with a Microsoft 365 Business or Enterprise plan have Microsoft Entra, which can be set up using the directions provided below.
While users can continue to use their email and Centerbase password to access Centerbase, there is functionality in Centerbase – including Centerbase Document Management – that will not function without using the Microsoft Entra login. Note that a Microsoft 365 Business or Enterprise is required to access the full functionality of Centerbase as of April 2024.
The following Centerbase products are equipped with the new SSO-capable login:
-
Centerbase Web
-
Word Add-in
-
Outlook Add-in
-
Admin Tool
-
Mobile App
The Client Portal login and WebDAV/File System/Mapped Drive login have not changed, and users should continue to use their User Name and Centerbase password to log in for these products.

Changing Your Password
“Forgot Password?” link on new login dialog
Users can update the password for their Centerbase login by entering an email address in the initial login dialog, then clicking “Continue” and selecting “Forgot password?” Email reset instructions will be emailed to the user’s email address.
NOTE: We do not recommend using the “Forgot Password?” link the first time a user is logging in with the new login. In this case, please request that your firm admin reset your password in the Admin Tool.
Admin Tool
Firm admins can continue to reset passwords using the Admin Tool. Resetting a password in the Admin Tool has the benefit of updating not only the password needed to log into Centerbase web using an email, but also resets the password for access to the Mapped Drive. This option should be used for required password resets when a user is logging into Centerbase using the new login for the first time.
How to Connect Centerbase to Microsoft Entra for SSO
-
Navigate to https://admin.microsoft.com
-
Login to a user account with Admin privileges
-
In the left navigation bar, go to “All admin centers”(2); you may need to click “Show all” (1) if this is not visible
-
Click on “Microsoft Entra”(1); you may be prompted to login again at this point
-
Once in the Microsoft Entra admin center, click the “Applications” (1) drop-down in the left navigation bar, then select “App registrations” (2)
-
Click “New registration” (3)
-
You should now be on page called “Register an application”; populate the fields as described here:
-
Name: Centerbase (1)
-
Supported account types: “Accounts in any organizational directory (Any Microsoft Entra ID tenant - Multitenant)” (2)
-
Redirect URI (3, 4)
-
“Select a platform” -> “Web”
-
In the box to the right, enter https://login.centerbase.com/login/callback
-
Click “Register” (5) to register the application
-
Once you register the application, you will be brought to an overview page. Record two pieces of information from this page as you will need to enter them in Centerbase to complete the setup for the SSO.
-
Application (client) ID (1)
-
Directory (tenant) ID (2) – this is also known as the “domain”
-
After recording these ID’s, click “Add a certificate or secret” (3)
-
Click “New client secret” (1)
-
When the “Add a client secret” window appears, add a description (e.g. “Centerbase SSO”) (1) and select an option under “Expires” (2).
-
You can set an expiration term of up to two years, but Microsoft recommends setting this to 180 days.
-
Note that when the client secret expires, you will need to return to this admin center to create a new Client Secret and enter it in Centerbase. This is a good time to set a reminder to do so!
-
Record the Client Secret “Value” (1) to enter into Centerbase (NOT the Secret ID)
-
IMPORTANT: You must record the Client Value *at this time* as this code will never be visible again. If you do not record this at the time you create it, you can create a new Client Secret.
-
Lastly, on the left navigation bar, navigate to Identity > Overview (1,2)
-
Make note of the “Primary domain”(3)
-
Now, log in to Centerbase using an account with Admin privileges
-
Navigate to System Settings > System Configuration > Authentication Options (1, 2)
-
Enter the following fields based on the information your recorded from the Microsoft Entra admin center:
-
Domain (3)
-
Enter the Primary domain from Microsoft Entra
-
Client ID (4)
-
Enter the Application (Client) ID from Microsoft Entra
-
Client Secret Value (5)
-
Enter the Client Secret Value (not Client Secret ID) from Microsoft Entra
-
Button Text (6)
-
This is the text on the login page button that directs users to the SSO login; we recommend leaving this as “Microsoft Account” but you may change it if you wish.
-
Tenant ID (7)
-
Enter the Directory (Tenant) ID from Microsoft Entra
-
Click “Save” (8)
-
Your new Microsoft SSO login should now be available, as long as the new login page has been enabled by Centerbase.
